5 Reasons NOT To Do Your Pregnancy Workout!

Well this is a bit of a weird one huh?
It’s usually me telling you that your pregnancy workout will help fight nasty pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness and water retention, but there are sometimes where you just need to LISTEN to your body.
I’ve always said that tuning in to your mind-body connection is essential in pregnancy – not only to deepen your bond with your baby, but also so you can hear when your primal instincts come a callin’! The thing is, we sometimes get so caught up in our busy lives, we forget to follow our gut feeling and more often than not you’ll find that it’s always right!
So for the times when you’re not sure whether you need a pick-me-up pregnancy workout or a damn good rest, ask yourself these questions:
1) Am I just tired/lethargic from sitting around all day or is it fatigue
Fatigue feels very different to the “I can’t be bothered’s”. If you are struggling to find the energy to even walk properly and you have a heavy head and heavy limbs, you need your bed!
2) Have I eaten in the last 2 hours?
Your body needs adequate fuel to get results from your pregnacy workout. You should have a snack of protein and carbs within two hours of working out
3) Am I dehydrated?
If you’ve been neglacting your water then grab a bottle and put a couple of grains of organic sea salt in a litre of water to add electrolytes. This will increase absorption into your cells and you will get better hydration faster. Give it 30 minutes before working out.
4) Is it too hot or humid?
Do not try and exercise outside if it’s a hot day or if the humidity is high. You can overheat far too easily and this can be harmful to your baby. Find an air-conditioned space or wait till the evening when it’s cooler.
5) Are you fighting off a cold or a bug?
It’s never a good idea to try and sweat it out even if you’re not pregnant. All you are doing is pushing the virus round your system faster and lowering your immune system even further. Take some time out, rest, eat well and take on lots of fluids and get back to it in a few days.
